A luxury car is super expensive and provides high levels of amenities, equipment, comfort, quality, and performance compared to other cars. It usually reflects the brand image of its manufacturer.
All car manufacturers are getting into producing more environmentally friendly options of electric vehicles. Rimac from Croatia, Tesla from the United States, and Mercedes, BMW, Audi and Porsche from Germany, Jaguar or Land Rover from the United Kingdom are all dipping their feet into the world of electric vehicles.
Electric cars are made to cut down fuel bills and lower maintenance costs. But some are produced with luxury and performance in mind first. These cost an arm and a leg to own but could be worth every penny!
Our list of the top 6 most expensive electric cars we could find
1. BMW I8
Starting from $149,900 to $169,900, the BMW I8 is a sleek and beautiful-looking car with butterfly doors and high-end materials like ivory and perforated leather.
The comfortable front seats make it a great driving experience; however, the storage space is limited. The rear seats are almost unusable, making it not fit anyone who wants to drive around with their family.
The car is almost completely built of carbon fiber, making it light and strong, giving it great handling and safety.
The I8 boasts a 1.5 Liter turbocharged gas engine and two electric motors with an 11.6kWh battery pack. These three combined together are capable of putting out over 369 horsepower across all four wheels.
Compared to other supercars, it is much more relaxing to drive as, being an electric car, it is quiet and smooth to drive. But that does not mean that it is slower than your normal supercar.
The I8 will jump from 0 to 62 in just 4.4 seconds. Its estimated electric-only driving range is 34 miles.

2. Tesla Roadster
Despite not doing too well in the world, The original Roadster by Tesla was the car that put Tesla on the map. The second generation of the Tesla roadster adds a remarkably higher driving range, much better performance, and two extra rear seats!
You must already know how good Teslas are in the electric car market. The Tesla Roadster is their most expensive car to date, with a base price of $200,000.
If you want to buy the Founder Series Roadster, which will be only 1000 units, the price starts at $250,000.
Tesla claims that the Roadster will be capable of going 0 to 60 in 1.9 seconds, making it quicker than any street-legal production car in the world.
Powered by a 200 kWh battery, which Tesla says will provide almost six hundred and twenty miles of driving range.
The Roadster can be charged in just over 85 minutes at the better-charging stations for a full charge.
As always, the Roadster will also have all the safety and autopilot features that Tesla has to offer. From provisions of emergency braking, lane assist, and semi-autonomous self-driving.
It is the first car to break performance records, have a convertible glass roof, and still seat four.

3. Lightning GT
The Lightning GT is made by The Lightning Motor Co.,a small British company that believes in electric vehicles being the future of the world. They are making their cars as fast and attractive as they come!
The car was made keeping in mind the pleasures of driving a high-performance v8 while not negatively affecting the environment. It combines classic British elegance with proven British race car technology.
Coming with a hefty price tag of $300,000, the Lightning GT has a 0 to 60 mph time of fewer than 4 seconds. It gets this speed from its four 120 kW electric motors that produce up to 495 horsepower.
The car is limited to a 155 mph top speed. It is powered by 36 kW battery packs that give it up to over a 300-mile driving range.

4. Genovation GXE
More than double the price of our last entry, the American-built Genovation GXE costs upwards of $750,000. It is the world’s first street-legal vehicle to break and hold the 200 miles per hour speed record.
The price comes from the fact that there will only be 75 of these insanely speedy cars produced.
The GXE is based on a Corvette C7, which means it will be a seven-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic. A car fit for speed demons boasting almost 800 horsepower and a top speed of 211.8 mph.
The electric motors are powered by a 61 kWh battery pack that can give it a driving range of almost 175 miles.
With a Harman speaker system specially tuned by Harman’s best, the interior is covered in the best quality carpeting and leather from Alcantara; the car is great from the inside as well as the outside.
The next two cars we feature on this list are beyond the reach of everyday people. These are unbelievably expensive and are only found in the garages of billionaires or multi-millionaires. Take a deep breath and read on:

5. Pininfarina Battista
Pininfarina, the Italian car design firm, is the manufacturer of this multi-million dollar supercar. The $2 million worth Battista is more about its old-school design and luxury than its performance. But don’t be fooled; it is still a brutally fast vehicle.
This Pininfarina will have only 150 of them released, making it very limited. Made from a carbon fiber shell and covered in the world’s finest materials, it can be customized endlessly, making each and every one of them completely unique to their owners.
The Battista has an insane top speed of 217 miles per hour from its 1,874 horsepower engine. Its 0 to 60 time is less than 2 seconds and can reach 186 miles per hour in less than 12 seconds.
The electric motor is powered courtesy of a 120 kWh battery pack that can give it a range of around 310 miles when driving in normal conditions.
If you have a 180 kW DC charger, you can charge your Pininfarina up to 80% in less than 40 minutes.
You can have an exquisitely designed home charging unit that will match the specifications and looks of your car; what more could you want?!

Accelerating to 60 miles per hour in sub 2 second times and reaching 186 miles per hour in less than 9.5 seconds, making it faster than some F1 cars.

Hand built and an engineering marvel, the engine produces a mindblowing 1,914 horsepower made by its two 220 kW and two 480kW front and rear powertrains.
The Nevera has a driving range of about 340 miles powered by its 120 kWh battery pack.
